I have a Dell M4600... 1080p anti glare, quad core i7, 9 cell battery, 15.1" screen... its is truely the most affordable beast you can buy.

Mine came to $2900, but dell knocked off $1200 because I bought it with a commercial account.

It rapes the Macbook pro 15inch with no contest

If I had 2900 to blow this would be a different thread entirely. I'm just planning to use some spare cash from a web project I'm almost done with. Honestly 15" is a little big for what I want anyways though. But a quad core i7 would be nice.

EDIT: crgray pm me if you could weasel a deal out of dell for me on a 14z. I get the student discount with them but that is only like 7% off.

Why the lost love for Lenovo, I have 2 (T60 - going on 7 years old, and a T410 - 2 years old) and swear by them, especially their accident warranty because as the saying goes "shit happens!" I would say go with a Thinkpad Edge or X-series for your size suggestions. I just have seen dozens of shitty laptops from Dell, HP, Samsung, Acer, Toshiba, and even ideapads from Lenovo. The reality is, most companies are putting out planned obsolete computers that last 2 years, with cheap plastic, poor design, and lackluster components. Yeah, the a Samsung or similar computer might have a i5, but what shitty motherboard, graphics cards, and so on that are put in these computers is pathetic. If your keen on getting away from Lenovo, get a professional series one from Dell like the Lattitude or Precision.

    I personally would recommend the

I most likely won't hold onto this computer for more than a year or so, so I'm not too concerned, I just want it to feel solid, which the x-series would. But the screens are too small, 13" is the smallest I would go. The vostro 3350 doesn't look all that bad.

Edit: Lenovo just sent me my quote, 1100 through epp for the spec'd out x220. Why do I have to choose!

i7, 8gb ram, and their ssd which is an intel 160gig. I like the x1 but it rapidly exceeds my budget, I sent out to get an epp quote but haven't heard back yet.

So I have done the inevitable. And decided to look at tablets as well...

Android only, tegra 3 only, keyboard dock preferable. But apparently the transformer prime tf201 isn't the ticket.

Alright, so even after my apology/rant about the transformer prime, I have impulse bought one from staples (they aren't even on display, I just got a call that they were available if I wanted one) my keyboard is on order from taiwan and should be here in around a week or so chinese characters and all. I'll be rooting and romming tonight and I'll post up a small review thread for those who are interested.
