I think the TBs ability to last has a lot to do with how rough you are with them.
I've got q pair of wired Earforce X1s I've literally had for a few years that are in the same condition as when I bought them. I don't let my kids use them and I put them away after each use.
My son has been through two pairs because he throws them on the sofa, leaves them out in the open to et roughed up, etc...
That having been said, when these finally die I'm buying a pair of Trittons.

From owning 3 turtle beaches , and a pair of trittons. I will tell you honestly! Turtle beaches i do not recommend !! I take care of my things as I know where I come from. I had two turtle beaches the x31's for xbox they were awesome but cheap. Still work till this day been two years, and I had owned some others one forget which now, 3 months the wires popped and the whole thing was broken no warranty and they ran me $100. I bought Trittons i mainly use them for computer. They cost me $100 and there a few errors in them, but I would not recommend them for xbox. Best bet is for astro's since you can use them for both xbox and computer and the mix amp has better quality then beats by dre. They are a bit pricey( I can't afford ) but they will give you a whole new level of sound.
also, my friend bought the wireless turtles $199. They broke in 4 months, they are not very durable. ( this being said, not serious rage/throwing of the headset, just the casual run to washroom quickly and place them down etc etc )

I have the X41's and they have been great. They sound good. They seem to be pretty tough, and they have definitely helped my MW3 scores. My buddy has the Astros and they are ncie but I am just as happy with my x41's for over half the price.

Don't get headphones to try and improve your game (not saying they WON'T improve your game, just that there's better ways to improve it.) Get them for comfort and overall sound quality, as well as what other features you value for tweaking the sound. They won't help you in MW3 if someone is behind you with the Dead Silence perk, plus you should be looking behind you periodically and generally knowing where the enemies are anyway. I have a 2.0+ k/d in BF3 and MW3, and I use the crappy speakers that are built into the LCD HDTV

I used to work at bestbuy and mics work using the following philosophy which many other electronic items can relate too: The higher the price, the higher to quality.

Turtles here! We've tried others but they seem to be the best for the price. A friend actually bought the more $$$ ones when we bought the Turtles and his stopped working after a few months and the Turtles are still working

Turtle Beach DPX21, it's really nice and half as cheap. You don't really need Astro unless you want to go PRO.

Hey guys, I ended up getting some higher end Turtles. So far pretty pleased and so are the people around me while I game, lol.
Thanks! When I make the big bucks I'll maybe get some Astros. But for now these work great."Whatever you're thinking, think bigger." - Tony Hsieh

If you get the chance, keep me updated on any small pros/cons about the headset. I've been looking at buying the TB's for everyone in my company since we use Skype to communicate online, but have been told that some of their mics are too sensitive and will pick up /everything/ which could prove to be annoying on longer conferences. Which model of the TB's did you pick up?

I prefer Tritton AX 720's because its almost as good as the Tritton pros but about 50 bucks cheaper depending on where you get it from.. Once you get a good headset itll help you play so much better i was unstoppable when i played COD's especially in the game mode Search and Destroy.
