Apparently so. I have a micro center nearby though so if they chose to not match the price I could've just walked out and gone there. I'm sure that played a big role.
Definitely. The salesperson didn't believe it either when I told him, but he pulled up micro center's site in the store and sure enough it was $999. However, I believe the 13" i5 is the only model they are selling discounted

Honestly this new Sandybridge i5 Macbook Air is super slick. Anyone who knows me on here is aware I'm the anti-fanboy. But it's great. So perfect for work.

You can't go wrong with the MBA. Anything short of full fledge gaming is amazing on this thing. With the ability to store everything in a cloud and keep up to 256gb on your hard drive memory is not an issue!
I also have an iPad and the MBA has definitely monopolized a lot more of my time as of late.
I have the new MBA with i7 and 4gb ram as well as the 256gb samsung internal hard-drive. That is one thing you will want to check. Apple uses to suppliers for the SSDs, samsung and toshiba. The samsungs have a significantly (and noticeable) faster read write speed. Check your system properties to ensure that you have the samsung. There are a bunch of websites detailing how to do this, easily google'd.
I had to return my furs one because it was toshiba.

for the money, what you get for hardware is a rip off. You can get a pc with twice as much hardware for less. However The mac operating system is unbelievable. If had my mac for 3 years and use HEAVILY. Ive gone through 1 hardrive and one touchpad. Besides for that it is the best computer i ever bought and would be lost without it.

FYI
Apple -- WORST customer service I've ever experienced bar none! Hours spent on hold - multiple transfers / no one at apple can take ownership of your problem. However -- they do speak english - suggest you purchase at a NON apple store and have the store (like a best buy) deal with any service issues.

^ that's very surprising seeing as i've always had top notch customer service at apple, meawhile best buy like you've mentioned, is filled with straight up idiots that couldn't plug a computer into the power outlet let alone help you fix it.
