Default Looking for a TV 55/60 inch

Gents, I'm looking to replace my almost 5 year old 32 inch Sony LCD TV. I've been looking around at different brands but I'm pretty much indifferent on what to actually buy. I was shopping online at Newegg.com and found a few that I like, but I really don't know the difference between them and it really doesn't have to come from Newegg. I want to spend less than $1500. I don't need the super top of the line stuff, but I want bang for the buck if I'm spending over a grand. I've seen some for less than $1000 but I'm wondering if they are worth the money. FWIW, I don't watch blue ray movies and it won't be for gaming ect. Just your everyday cable hook up with 1080 HD. I liked Sony product, however I've reading recently and it seems like Samsung or LG is the way to go. Your recommendations are appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Samsung or Sony or BUST.

I bought my 55" for about $2000 but it's pretty up there in the Samsung line. I don't know the model #'s off hand but I would just hit CNET and some other tech sites for information & reviews for comparisons. Also should spend some time reading consumer reviews too (I mean actual people reviewing them across various sites like NewEgg, Samsung, Best Buy, etc.)

The Panasonic ST50 is the "best bang for your buck" tv set right now. CNET gives it top scores for pretty much everything. The Samsung E6500 is a comparable choice as well. I like the Panny's myself but you can't go wrong with either.

samsung 7500 or 8000 will run about $2k-3k range. it's the best of LEDs.

i bought the LG 6700 55" for $1300 on ebay's daily special sold by beach camera. the deal seems to reappear each saturday.

sony is good but seems to lack in looks department. they still have the wider frame.

sharp is often associated with LG as the lower end. sharp does offer great price points though.

I'm checking into that LG model, prices are all over the place for it. Thanks for the info, I'll check Ebay!

Mine is arriving Tuesday and I will post my review on it. It was on ebay special again for $1450 today. The deal includes a blue ray player too. I'd check next Saturday morning on ebay's deal to see if price goes to $1300 again.

The LG 6700 arrived today. Picture quality is good, the TV looks slick. I wasn't able to connect the laptop to the TV using WiDi.

The setup is easy and that magic remote is great, like a wireless mouse without desk. Youtube and facebook was great without much delay, unlike a Sony DVD player that I tried but returned.

In the end, I highly recommend it for those seeking budget 55" TV without sacrificing style and features.

Just pick any they all are the same lol. Just make sure it is a LED TV and you have 1080p. Also 120mhz refresh rate is good.

I bought a 50 inch plasma 5+ years ago. Still going strong! I might pick up a 60 inch LED sharp here soon. Going to wait for the black friday time. Save a few bucks

I got the WiDi working. The laptop now displays wirelessly to the TV. Very cool. The trick was to update the Intel WiDi software.

This is the best deal. Watch for an eBay daily special tomorrow (Saturday) if you are in the market.
