Audio setup questions
I realize that there was a similar thread about someone looking for dorm speakers. I have similar but different thoughts and questions.
I will be living in my fraternity house next semester and am in need of some audio suggestions. My budget is not low but also not huge. I am not going to be spending like $1k per speaker however I have more than a few hundred to work with. I will probably be searching audiophile, classifieds, etc. I am thinking probably 2 studio type monitors and a powered subwoofer. Not sure if I should try and put speakers on the other side (behind the sitting area) or not. Also, wether I need a receiver and what type? I am currently running my Macmini through my TV and intend to do that with my audio but running through the speakers. Most/all of my music is digital (i know) between my Mbp or iPhone etc. Any suggestions are appreciated I want quality to an extent however the volume is also a key.
My concern is in regards to space. The room is standard dorm size, however i believe i will be using it as a single room as of now. I can work around the budgeting issues because this is the main expense i don't already have. The neighbors don't matter because they will generally be doing the same types of things. I may also look into some lighting to coordinate with the music.

It depends on what you are doing. Slapping beats or making music. I got a Sony mch-ec909ip and it shakes our whole frat house. Mine is an older model from 07 that has a 10in woofer but pretty much the same. It slaps hella hard.
