Thread: Koenigsegg Agera R is the stop-and-go master

On September 2, 2011, the Koenigsegg Agera R set the current record in the Guinness World Records for the fastest time for a two-seater production car to travel 0–186–0 mph. The feat, conducted at an airfield near Angelholm, Sweden, was accomplished in 21.9 seconds by Robert Serwanski. Guinness World Records confirms that this is a new record, making Koenigsegg’s Agera R the first titleholder.

In addition, Koenigsegg attempted to set five other Guinness World Records. All the records were related to accelerating and decelerating at speeds between 186 and 200 mph:

• 0–186 mph = 14.53 seconds

• 0–200 mph = 17.68 seconds

• 186–0 mph = 6.66 seconds

• 200–0 mph = 7.28 seconds

• 0–200–0 mph = 24.96 seconds

For comparison, Bugatti says the 1,200-hp Veyron Super Sport takes 14.60 seconds to reach 186 mph from a standstill (0.07 of a second slower than the Agera R) and 22.5 seconds to go 0–186–0 mph (1.31 seconds slower than the Agera R).

The Koenigsegg is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 1,115 hp on E85 bioethanol . Koenigsegg says the Agera R has a theoretical top speed of 275 mph. Christian von Koenigsegg was thrilled that the Agera R received this acknowledgement, stating, “We had high hopes when we set out to do this record. But, the end result was truly astonishing. This is Koenigsegg´s 4th Guinness World Record since 2003, and it shows our continued commitment to build hypercars that deliver beyond expectations.”
