Maybach axed for 2013 Mercedes S-Class
Maybach death rumors have been swirling for quite so time, but it finally appears that Mercedes-Benz is ready to axe the luxury brand due to stagnant sales. Daimler AG says the Maybach brand will be discontinued by 2013 and replaced by a stretched version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The demise of the resuscitated brand is easy to understand. Maybach delivered 33 cars in the United States in the first 10 months of 2011, a drop of 28 percent compared to the same period in 2010. As a comparison, Rolls-Royce and Bentley delivered 286 and 1,422 vehicles, respectively, for the same region and period.
The move means the S-Class lineup, which will be undergoing a redesign for 2013, will expand out to include six variations of the flagship sedan. One will include an elongated wheelbase (think S600 Pullman without the armor) while a four-door convertible variant is also being rumored.

I don't know about this one. Maybach has always been a resemble of ultra luxury, or simply a word "BOSS" sums up all. Hopefully MB has something nice under their sleeves.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Mercedes Benz is so damn stupid. All their interiors are essentially the same. Doesn't matter when if you sitting in a CLS or a C class, the steering wheels are identical. Even the navigation systems have become universal.
Maybachs stood out. If there weren't enough sales they should have looked at expanding their Maybach line. Offer customers more variety. And whats happening with the Xenactec coupes now?SS

That is the S-class Pullman after the famous rail cars of the 1900's. Typically there bullet proof and have a very well done rear interior. One of the well known owners of the S600 Pullman was the communist North Korean leader Kim Jong Ill. I do agree the S600 Pullman looks horrendous too.
Personally I have never been a big fan of Maybachs because it seemed to always feature old Mercedes equipment like the same steering wheel, nav system, and dashboard from the 2006 S class yet in a 2010 Maybach. Didn't think that was very appropriate for a brand selling a car at 400k level.------

That will be really stupid. When I look at a S-class I see a nice looking normal ride. But when you look at a Maybach it's another world, it's just straight up BAUSS. Guess we'll be seeing more ordinary S-class's, and less or barely any Maybach's..
