Hulme now accepting orders on its F1 supercar
New Zealand’s only supercar manufacturer, Hulme, is now accepting orders for its F1 after the open-top variant’s successful driving debut at last month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Hulme plans to build only a limited number of units with deliveries beginning in late 2012.
The Hulme F1 is designed to provide a Formula One experience for the street. Its chassis and body panels comprise carbon fiber, titanium, Kevlar, and other composite materials to keep weight down to 2,381 pounds. Its mid-engine design utilizes a Chevrolet-derived supercharged V-8 for power. It will produce 700 hp and be good for zero-to-62-mph sprints in an estimated time of less than 3.5 seconds. Hulme says it is targeting a Pagani quality level (a somewhat weird objective) and certification as a low volume vehicle in order to freely pass hands in many of Europe’s small countries.
