Aftermarket Porsche 911 posts 234.6-mph Texas Mile, produces 1,485 hp
Evolution MotorSports of Tempe, Arizona, says it has set a new Texas-mile record of 234.6 mph in a street-legal 997 Porsche 911. The 2007 Porsche 911 is equipped with the company’s EVT1500 performance package and has been dubbed “Mayhem.”
The record was set at a Texas-mile event on March 25–27, 2011, in Goliad, Texas. Categorized as a “modified street car,” the 911 features a full interior and a stereo/navigation system. The only additions to the car are for safety: roll cages, fire extinguishers, etc. Evolution MotorSports says the record is a way of proving to the Europeans what Americans can do with a Porsche. It plans to take Mayhem over to Europe so it can compete directly with the aftermarket tuners in the car's home region.
The EVT1500 Performance System sells for $220,000 and is centered around a 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine, which Evolution MotorSports says produces a massive 1,485 hp and 1,320 lb-ft of torque. Additional upgrades are made to the safety components, suspension, transmission, and other components that need to match the performance of the engine. The car can post a 2.5-second time in the 0–60-mph dash and can exit a quarter-mile sprint in excess of 160 mph. Follow the jump for the full press release.
