[I have a car that was repainted Matte White and I've began noticing that there are some light surface rust spots. I bought a Meguires clay kit to try on a small area and the rust spots don't seem to be coming out.]
Detailer’s Clay vs. Decontamination
Before the advent of detailer’s clay it was a common practice to remove paint-overspray with a one-sided razor blade and a surface lubricant or by polishing the surface with a compound / polish and a wool pad.
a) Detailer’s clay is essentially a malleable applicator that contains suspended abrasive particles, used with a surface lubricant it aquaplanes across the paint surface and removes surface contaminants by abrasion and then encapsulation by the malleable polymer an was originally formulated to remove paint overspray; it is also useful for removing surface contaminants that have bonded to the paint.
It gained its reputation as a decontamination method because it was mistakenly believed that it ‘pulled’ brake / rail dust iron particulates from the paint surface, if this were true there would be no need for it to be abrasive. Theses abrasives will only shear any brake dust particles, leaving what is below the paint surface to remain. Once water and heat (reactivity) is added the corrosion process is started.
.
b) Paint decontamination systems were developed as a method of removing paint contamination beyond what can be removed by washing or claying alone. The imbedded (below paint surface) iron particles are released by the exothermic reaction between the acid and moisture, the heat opens the micro-pores of the paint, thus releasing the sintered iron particles, and to neutralize caustic compounds that have developed in the paint's subsurface. Ongoing damage is immediately stopped and future damage is prevented by removing the ferrous particles.
C.Quartz IronX or CarPro IronX Soap Gel is a weaker solution than regular CarPro Iron X, but both these products contain neutralised acid salts that offer a safe neutral pH 6.5-7.0 that is suitable for all surfaces

Thank you all for your help! I order Iron X and it came in I sprayed the entire car down with it and watched it to it's magic. Holy S**T it was amazing every little piece changed colors from purple to red and then a good power spray did the trick. All the little orange rust looking sports came right off. The matte paint came out looking brand new super bright with no damage done what so ever. I highly recommend this product to anyone to take care of this problem I had.
