Mad respect to you pro detailers
Had a chance to visit with Rich from Gloss It. He took the time to show me how to color sand, compound and polish my car. Learned A LOT.
As an ex Meguiar's employee, I learned a long time ago that each detailer has their share of secrets and products they like and more importantly, the skill to use the products they use daily.
While I learned enough to "get by," I also learned that, much like a piano player, while you can be trained to play the notes, you have to be born with a gift to "make the music."
Mad respect to all of you top notch pros who make your living in this fashion.
And thanks, Rich, for showing a self proclaimed 'specialist' just how much of a novice I really am.
Folks, if you are considering caring for your car's paint, you owe it to yourself to check out any of the detailing sponsors on this board who are local to you. Visit them and watch them go from zero to hero...and see how many hours the process takes. Mind numbing.Current ride:

+1 to the respect. I get pissed at how much it costs to detail the car but I must say its always worth every penny. A good detailer is worth his weight in gold!

I used to think that paying that much for detailing was a joke and that I could do it the same or better....then I got a detail from a pro on my s550...good detailers are boderline OCD...it has to be perfect in their eyes...
