Default Well I screwed the pooch

I have undercarriage paint overspray all over the hood on my pickup. It is some stout shit and I do not know how to get it off. I have tried a stage II (out of three) cutting compound and all that did was piss the overspray off. Is there a trick with like gasoline or paint thinner I could use? Something a little more harsh? Or would paint thinner rub the paint off the car?

Paint thinner sounded okay because the paint is already dried and baked on

Mineral spirits, but test it out on an inconspicuous area. Gasoline or paint/lacquer thinner will be murder on the clear coat.

Or accept fate and paint it flat black.

You need to use something "de-natured" - You can usually find in a detail shop or local car washes. I would make sure and try a test spot as every paint surface is different. I had road tr, which is similar to undercoating..thick and nasty...and it came off with denatured alcohol. I made sure to wax it after...

Buffing it with a cutting pad is just taking the clear down..

As far as I know MS is a cleaner, more refined, and less volatile. I've been told it's less likely to hose the clear coat.

That being said, I would definitely test it somewhere hidden just to be sure, with todays cars you never know what it's going to do.

Did you try regular rubbing alcohol?

Have you called the mfg of the undercoating and see what they recommend?

    goo-gone?
