    Default e36 Touring Cermamic Detail

A good friend of mine recently aquired this after selling his E39 M5 (needed something more practical)

He had asked me to give it a god going over for him and as he doesnt get much of a chance to give it a wax himself he wanted a protective coating that would really last. Well i thought this would be a good chance to let Carpro's Cquartz shine.

Well on with the picys and details

    Before

As you can see generally a pretty clean car with just a small amount of grime.

Wheels were treated with IronX and then cleaned down with Autofinesse Imperial

After a 2BM wash it was quite evident that there was no protection on the paintwork of this car.

and abit of tar on the lower flanks

This was taken care of with Autofinesse ObliTarate

and after a good clay session which revealed that apart from the tar there was little contamination on the paint. it was time for some correction

And out with another Carpro product Fixer.

As a start i went for a Hexlogic Cutting pad with Fixer this was followed with Fixer on a White Hexlogic Pad and then finished off with Gtechniq P2 on a black finishing pad.

    Before Correction

However i very quickly met my match with the weather.

However i had a little something up my sleve to combat this

    After Correction

All in all a very good level of correctionw as achieved leaving me with a great base for the Cquartz

Now you are probably wondering how on earth im going to apply Cquartz while its rather cold and chucking it down.

    welll

Using this lovely IR heater i was able to lower the humidity in the local area of the panel to be protected while also bringing the temp of the panel up to 20 degrees ensureing that the Cquartz would cure just the little bit quicker.

As you can see this left me with a lovely wet look and a super slick feel

oh and who says sealants dont bead

Now on the first day i only managed to get the front half of the car finished so onto the next day (luckily no rain this time

and a quick picture of the sealant im using. (please note that to remove the residue from Cquartz i was recommended to use Costco MFs as the ideally need to be binned after use as they can go stiff with the residue.

    and some more reflections

From my experiance i have found Cquartz a great sealant to apply that even in the horrible conditions i had with a little improvisation i was still able to apply the sealant very effectively and its given me great results on this car

After i had done the correction work and sealed it in with Cquartz i made my way onto the trim

Autofinesse revive was used on this leaving me with the following

One thing that has also bugged the owner was the state of the leather in the car so out with the Autofinesse Leather twins for this job

    Before

    After

    leaving a lovely matte finish.

Oh and the boot was in abit of a mess

The lose dirt was hoovered up and then a good soak with APC was needed

after a wipe down i was left with this

The spare wheel was also scrubbed clean and dressed

    And now the overal afters

Just got to persuade him to fit the supercharger kit thats sitting next to his desk

Now i was intending on taking alot more pictures of the correction and application of the sealant but as you can tell the weather really was against me the whole time

I do have a great little video to put up ASAP that really demonstrates the water movement difference between an uncoated area and a Cqaurtz area though

    Any comments are welcome

    Thanks

    Tom
