What's Your Favorite Tequila?
Last weekend I was at Lake Tahoe enjoying a Tequila party where everyone was urged to bring something.
I have limited experience and have a bottle of El Jimador Anejo which is ok for an anejo, and also Cazadores anejo. I brought the Cazadores, but when I got to the party, there were some off the hook stuff and cost wasn't a big object it seems.
I tried a little of everything and by far, El Patron was a big hit for me. This was El Patron Silver, which is a blanco tequila (fresh out of the distiller) and was smoother than my Cazadores... and more expensive.
Another one was Tonala and this was a anejo. This stuff was smoother (as it should be) than the blanco. Oddly, nobody took pictures because we had a few that "looked" pretty but were unopen. Even had an almond liquer tequila; stuff was like a dessert congac.
I was pretty blitzed after 6 shots. So far, the top choice in at least two catagories (not many resposado's but someone did bring one in an El Patron but I don't recall if I had it.)

Don't normallydrink tequila, but.....Patron Platinum.
as an 'everyday' type of tequila, Patron Silver or Asombroso El Platino.Last edited by Cicada; 09-29-2008 at 09:39 PM.

It is vital that we work to a few golden rules. Always work in a small team. Keep a very low profile. Only deal with people who come recommended. And it's like selling anything else: washing machines, hand made shoes, blowjobs. As long as you don't take the piss people will always come back for more. And that is not to say we don't have that special kind of magic that makes two kilos into three. But never be too greedy.

Get your credit cards out boys and girls for here we have the world's most expensive bottle of tequila. This 100% blue Agave liquid has been aged for six years and is to be sold in limited edition platinum bottles, complete with a hideously over elaborate bottle for $US225,000 a bottle.
"Tonight we are trying for the Guinness Book of Records with the most expensive bottle in the world," Fernando Altamirano, chief executive of producer Tequila Ley.925. There are just 66 bottles of (there were 67 but someone dropped one - that's a joke by the way) half of them pure platinum bottles and half of them gold and platinum-decorated bottles that sell for the slightly less extravagant price of $US150,000.
For those on a smaller budget, there are 999 bottles of the same tequila in silver and gold bottles priced at $US25,000.
Their next goal is to create a million-dollar tequila bottle made from diamond-encrusted platinum to be auctioned at Sotheby's next year. It would seem, just like Easter Eggs, that the money goes on the packaging rather than the contents.
