Mikey, i also love jerky and am interested in making some. My friend just buys flank steaks, cuts them up and puts them in his dehydrator he got at target. I beleive you can also get jerky cuts of meat from local stores.
In for what others have to say as well. The benefit to making your own is LOW sodium vs what you typically get in the stores.

Guys... There is some good beef Jerky in the area... Search for Sorgs in Darien WI, or Ascot (Ascot Prime Meats - Homemade Sausage).. But Sorg's is the best in my world... I always head up there when I go to the lake house

I will try them out later this week.
But for some reason, I just love to make stuff rather then buy it.JEEP: The dirtiest of the four-letter words

If you are interested in providing your own meat, my game processor produces some of the best jerky I have ever eaten in my life!

My dad and I used to make venison jerky in a dehydrator with liquid smoke and other flavors when I used to hunt. It tasted soooo good.

do yourself a favor and buy/order a cheap small meat slicer from harbor freight. it makes things sooo much easier. the most pain in the ass things about making jerky are slicing the meat and cleaning the dehydrator.

my local butcher will cut it for me.
I always order a lot of meat from them, as well as special order.
I oddly enough inquired about it, and they said they can do it on there off time.
But I might look into the slicer. I have a HF not to far from meJEEP: The dirtiest of the four-letter words
