I have also been to his place in SF and Vegas. Decent meal. I agree with Raw, I wasn't all that impressed, especially what you pay for it

Thanks for the input guys,
Any suitable substitutions? I tend to stay away from RC, Mortons, The Palm as they are a bit too stuffy. What about J&G at the W?'12 JEEP SAHARA UNLIMITED - Current

If you're in DC- head over to "Rays The Steaks" in Clarendon (Arlington).
It's the best steakhouse in the DC area, in my opinion, and isn't one of the boring chains you get everywhere. Steaks are high quality and cooked extremely well; in addition to your usual cuts they have several less common cuts that they do an incredible job at getting intense flavors from and they have some nice sauces and glazes that they'll serve on the side. Garlic potatoes and creamed spinach are served family style with the meal, but you can order other sides as well. The wine list covers all ranges and has a nice variety. It's one of my favorites in this area, and probably the only steak house I've been a repeat customer to.
Ranked at #29 in this years Washingtonian rankings:
Ray's the Steaks Restaurant Review (washingtonian.com)
Two other restaurants I like to recommend to people in DC (there are others that are excellent, but these are a bit less romantic/intimate than some of the others) -
Central Michel Richard: Washington DC Restaurants & Dining In Downtown DC - Central Michel RichardOpen kitchen concept, Chef/owner is Michel Richard (same guy as Citronelle). Has a wide variety of food choices that are excellent, such as their short ribs and lobster burger, has a bit of that celebration excitement feel as opposed to an intimate mealCafe Atlantico (Jose Andres): Café Atlántico - playful Nuevo Latino cuisine from José Andrésone of Jose Andres DC restaurants, has excellent drinks and latin inspired cuisine that is great. Restaurant also houses the famous "Minibar" restaurant on the third floor, but I found it that to be extremely disappointing. Main restaurant is a lot of fun though.I've eaten at a lot of the others in the area if you're looking for somewhere quieter to eat, but they always seem more "date" oriented and intimate.

I've been to Ray's, I actually work about 10 mins away from there... love it - That's a great idea but I'm looking for something that I haven't tried before... I've been to all of J.A's restaurants in the area and I hate to say it but the one I consistently return to is Jaleo... simple, fun etc...I think for this particular event Central is going to fit the bill... Leave to a fellow Hokie to come in with the great suggestion. Many thanks!
