Steak sauce yay or nay?
I was raised in a home that considered it sacrelige to put steak sauce on a good piece of meat. Simple seasonings and proper cooking ruled. We didn't have alot of extra growing up and steaks were a rarely enjoyed treat.
Recently, on FoodTV I saw some shows on steak sauces and other condiments. The nostalgia of their development for some reason piqued my interest in these tart concoctions. I picked up a bottle of Heinz 57 sauce and have enjoyed it on burgers as of late. In spite of my general disdain for Teresa Heinz Kerry and her husband, I have to admit, in the words of Jules in Pulp Fiction, "That's a tasty burger!"
Anyone else here intrigued by the various recipes for flavoring steaks and other meats? Anyone actually use them on fine steaks?

No way! Steak sauce ruins a good steak. Rare steak. Butter, Blue Cheese at most.

I use it on many things, but not steak. Now I have to say that I am a vegetarian, but when I was not, I did not use it on steak.

Theres a couple steak sauces that I use on mine, but that is rare and both are homemade. The other option is a nice Au Jus made if the steak was prepared in a castiron pan.

I agree, a good steak should never be touched with sauce.... BUT there is always a steak that NEEDs it... and when the time comes, its A1 ONLY, nothing else!
I put A1 on chicken, pork, potatoes and all.. I love it, but I only use it on steak when needed.. A little pepper usually does the trick if cooked properly.
