as far i have seen that the best beer...after the opinion of thousands of beer drinkers...is considered the westvleteren..but you can only find it in the monastery
the second best is the rochefort 10 which i tried and it is really really good...is it any different than westvleteren?
i think westvleteren costs about 40 euros if you manage to order it....
one other beer which i like much is the ''La trappe quadraple''....

To come back to the topic of Trappist:
There are only 7 Trappist breweries in the world. The only beer that is allowed to be called Trappist, has to be brewed within the walls of the abbey, or under supervision of the monks.
Those beers can carry the Trappist logo.
The 7 breweries are:
Chimay
Orval
Westvleteren
Achel
Westmalle
La Trappe
Rochefort

When did the Dutch sneak La Trappe back in to the Trappist fold?

Yeah, the Rochefort might have been available in the past, but it isn't a general list item at the LCBO and wasn't included in any of the special seasonal releases this year...
I did pick up a few La Trappe quads for the cellar though!

Be honest, how is the Rochefort 10? I have had the 6 and 8 and found them to be too dark, caramel-like. I described the 8 in my notes as what Guinness would taste like if it was actually drinkable.

dial-m, if you think the 6 & 8 are too dark, you won't like the 10. for me, it's very sweet, and it reminds me of port. i like one bottle every now & then.

I don't mind a little sweet for a stronger beer, but they were definitely a darker, heavier taste than I prefer. The 6 had a lot of sediment, too.
I really like the St. Feuillien Triple, which to me tastes a bit like a Duvel but with a little darker boldness.
