What infra red grill should I get?
HI all I was wondering what infra red grill you recommend. I want a modest size grill that fits a few steaks (nothing too big) that I can put on my deck. I'm looking for ones that have very high BTU and price does not matter. just want quality above all else so I don't have to buy another one ever!!!!!
thanks in advance

due to the high heat (aka BTU's) it produces a nice crust on the outside and a perfect medium/rare on the inside. It works well on any application you want a crispy outside. steaks, Korean BBQ, chicken skin
have you ever seen Anthony Bourdain when he went to Japan this old guy was cooking various parts of the freshly killed chicken on an infra red grill since it is the only thing that could produce the heat he needed without making the meat too dry inside.

I've had an infra-red grill for a few years now, although mine is just a regular Charbroil grill, nothing over the top fancy. It's a small patio model, but sports most of their infrared features: Char-Broil | Quantum® Infrared Urban Grill
I love the way it cooks my food, but there is a bit of a learning curve from a traditional grill. Cooking times are a bit different due to the way the heat translates into the food, but it really does help seal in the juices (they can really throw out the heat!). The infrared grates also help prevent flare-ups, so you dont get overly charred meat when a bit of grease drips off.
My only complaint is cleaning them up. The infrared grates are a perforated plate that sits below the regular grill grates, and all the ash and char collect on top of them. You need a grill brush with long bristles to reach down there. I usually just crank the grill on high for 5-10 minutes before/after cooking to burn everything off.

Hey GO,
With cleaning of any grill is a pain in the ass but with these Infra red grills its best just to crank it up the way you say. That is another reason why I want to get one. I have a hugh smoker so looking for something small for my patio so I can have some nice grilled meat in the winter time

The cleaning gripe is a small complaint as cranking the heat does pretty much burn anything away after grilling, like you mentioned. I don't really have too many other complaints on mine, I love it; they heat up and cook quickly, so perfect for winter grilling.
You can actually get a little bit of smoke action and flavor from an infrared also. Since you have that infrared plate underneath of the grill grates, you can toss some wood chips in between there before you put your food on.
It's definitely not the same as a full blown smoker, but a little extra hickory flavor never hurts!
