    so are all the horror stories we hear about when you piss a waiter/waitress off true? the whole spitting in the food deal?

    While it *does* happen, this is something very rare. Very rarely will an employee spit in your food. However, if your request is stupid, your food is guaranteed to be mishandled, literally thrown together, and every piece of everything will probably get touched by hand. The proverbial "don't f**k with people who handle your food" is definitely true though.

    Awesome, I look forward to it. I was big into finding good "street meat" and holes-in-the-wall while I was at NYU, and while I've eaten at some of the ubiquitous sit-downs (Tao, Sushi Samba, Balthazar, Knickerbocker's etc), my restaurant experience is more limited.
