On my '99 I did the following over 20k hard miles:
oil changes every 5-8k miles - $7 Viper filter from dodge & Rotella oil
    Trans oil - $50
    Spark plugs - $50
    Brake Pads - $60

    Not foreseeable:
    Transmission mount - $50
Driver door wiring harness - ~$400
    Leaking coolant hose ~$50

It needed rear tires when I traded it in, but they were on the car when I bought it and didn't give me any issues

By far the cheapest maintained car that I've ever owned and I wish that I never sold it.

I'm also curious. Maybe he wishes he could have had both?

I could see picking the viper over the murci because of maintenance and "fun value". Not that the viper flies under the radar, but you don't feel so bad beating on them as you would a lambo, knowing the huge bill is coming.

I've always had more fun in my cheaper vehicles because you don't have to worry about anything

Viper is a car that you don't realize how much you love it, until it's gone.

Well, there are three of us in the San Diego chapter of "Viper Regret Club" and all of us have amazing vehicles. Best of luck.

I have got to agree, with all the researching I've been doing with exotic/ high end vehicles the Viper turns out to be the most impressive in terms of maintenace.

Along with a V10 engine, exterior design/ shape is pretty sick especially a convertible. Interior, well something had to give, and it had to be the plain interior.

Costs about 40 K (year '02-06) to get it, which is not bad at all.

But I do have one question why do people with Vipers upgrade to the Gallardo ??? Knowing the gallardo will cost more and be less reliable, and more expensive to maintain ?

    thanks
