i think he started getting loose while on the track. not sure if it's just brake issue. seems like he was going way fast into the turn.
good reaction from the passenger but i think you may want to rest your neck a little after a big accident. unless you think the car is on fire.

"Losing the brakes" is the number one excuse from inexperienced drivers. No brakes, let alone grip from the tires, were going to slow that car down for that corner.
The lesson to take away from this is to incrementally push your limits.Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

That's an asinine statement if i've ever heard one, vipers handle amazingly well if you know how to drive.
If you don't the car will own you.
This is a veeery old video and yes the pass was an instructor. Top of 4th gear and they just totally lost the brakes. IIRC he was on stock pads/fluid and had been pushing it pretty hard for a few laps. Boiled fluid and pads way out of their temp range just don't stop well at all.
Now everyone go buy a jug of Motul and get to flushing those brakes.

I forget exactly what track it was at but another of the track rat viper guys commented on the video and said thats just how fast the track is, and that you have no choice but to be in 4th gear coming into it. If you watch closely he is hard on the brakes at 7 seconds in when it starts to get twitchy. THAT is how far in advance he was on the brakes. Notice he even reached down trying for the e-brake, anything to get it slowed down. When working properly those cars will come down from 140 to 60 like nothing, but it sure does suck when things don't work out.
I'll openly agree that it was a poor pad choice and no maintenance that caused the crash, but it's a bit much to keep attacking the driven when he had an instructor in the pass seat who didn't make a peep about slowing it down.

Relax. It was in all in jest. I'm a long time Viper fanboi but let's face it, it takes real skill to get that car anywhere near it's limits. I haven't been in a newer model but I know the late 90's models were down right scary at speed and heaven help you if the road wasn't smooth.
Right now I'm contemplating a Viper purchase actually. Not sure if I want to try a few other toys before parking one in my garage.
