Default My C5Z06 "Blue Devil" Project

    Hey everyone,

just thought I’d share some pics of my “Blue Devil Z06” project.

    As for basic specs:
    740 HP @ 5790 RPM
    675 LB-FT @ 5298 RPM
    3197 LBS

The general idea behind the “Blue Devil” project was to build a C5Z06 based “supercar vette”.
I felt the desire to build a more exotic Vette on the c5 z06 platform and to refine & rework parts of the car with some fine German engineering, in order to turn the aging C5 Z06 platform into a supercar that would compete with today’s high end European tuner supercars like the Ruf RT12 R, Novitec Rosso 747, G-Power Hurricane,…
The goal was not to do a maximum HP built, it’s the “total package” that was important to me.
When going against many of todays tuned euro supercars on the Autobahns here in Germany, a stock C5 Z06 hat not much to offer anymore.

Realizing this project here in Germany was an interesting experience. Even though there were many back sets and many “firsts”, it goes to show what is possible with the dated C5 Z06 platform.

Some of the parts on the car are custom made here in Germany and will only be found on this Z06. As for example the carbon fiber rear diffusor and carbon fiber front splitter. Another German reengineered section on the car is the braking system. The Movit brakes are the only 6 piston caliper to fit behind the OEM z06 speedline rims.

It was important for me to keep the car as light as possible and thus retaining the light OEM Z06 rims.

The interior features carbon fiber GT3 sport buckets seats and custom leather work. The steering wheel is a 34mm Raid airbag steering wheel. The feeling of the steering is improved a lot when compared to the stock steering wheel.
The double DIN navigation system was done in order give the c5 a more updated look.
The way it looks now, at least no one can bash the C5 for having an ugly plastic interior.

There is a lot more custom engineered stuff hidden under the hood of the Z06. Mostly not visible like custom cooling parts, reworked clutch cylinder, carbon fiber supercharger engine cover, etc.
The main purpose of having much of the custom work done is to build and fortify the Vette for extended high speed runs on the Autobahn. It’s one thing to put on a supercharger kit on a Vette but it’s another thing to build up a car that will hold up to the extreme amount of stress that long high speed autobahn runs demand of a Vette.

The Blue Devil Z06 puts down 740 HP and 675 TQ and even though there was weight added due to the extra coolers and the supercharger system, the car is still very light at 1450kg (3197 LBS) with a 3/4 tank of gasoline.
Its top speed is at 230 MPH (370 KM/H).

I hope you'll find my Blue Devil project as interesting as I did.

    Greetings from Germany,
    Alex

This looks unbelievably great! Color is perfect, I bet it runs as great if not better! German plates or just using them for the shoot? Are there new wheels scheduled yet?

Thanks. The Z06 is registered in Germany, so the plates are indeed the real deal. New wheels are definitely something I’m thinking about. I'd like something with a little more bling factor, so I can switch between the two sets of rims.

I don't know if I would go with bling on this one, but we got those too! My ideas for it would be these ...
