Thread: Construction Management/Hotel Chain

Hey everyone! I saw this section of the forum and got excited! Im currently a senior in High School and will be going off to college next year. My goal in life is to become a construction manager, then either run the company I started out at or start my own. Then I would probably specialize in large scale housing like apartments and condos. Also do large commercial buildings and other stuff like that. But my main goal is to start my own luxury hotel brand/chain. So what I was wondering is if anyone could give me some advice on what I can start doing now to help me in the long run. Im kinda stuck right now because I know what I want to do but I do not know how to get there. I just do not know where to start. Is wanting to start your own hotel chain kind of like entrepreneurship?

Also im going to Mankato State University for Construction Management. Its supposed to be the best in the state.

My friends father does that but he's an engineer. Owns his own business and has contracts with a bunch of huge developers. Anyways goodluck man!

So he just gets hired by big company's to build for them?

Yeah pretty much, bids on contracts and if he wins he builds based on budget.

get a good job in the field in the summer.... onsite experience is far greater than anything they teach you at school as far as the construction stuff. But pay close attention to any business stuff they teach you in school
