My Home Renovation
Figured I'd share this, since I'm pretty damn proud of myself (and my boyfriend).

We bought our first home last September for $52,000 (~1200sq/ft), knowing it needed a lot of updating, and decided that our first big project would be renovating the bathroom, since it was HORRIBLE.
We had gotten out most of the gross stuff and lived with a semi-gutted bathroom for a while until time and finances allowed us to really dive in head first (we purchased everything we needed bit by bit and stored it all in the basement until we were ready to start swinging hammers).
Here's some before, during, and current pictures. We should be finishing it up within the next week or so (have to tile the floor, finish some spackling, a few more sheets of drywall, paint, and install the vanity, etc. Not too much, in the grand scheme of things
We gutted it down to the bare studs and floor joists (the REAL 2x4's, the home was built sometime around 1900.), and completely updated everything, plumbing, electrical, installed insulation, etc. We will also be running in-floor heating, using pex tubing run on the underside of the subfloor.
Onto the pics:

Interior bathroom wall, completely removed it.

This was what was behind the wood paneling behind the toilet *barf*

Gutted (it was the only bathroom in the house, so the tub and toilet had to stay as long as possible)

New sub floor, new plumbing, toilet installed temporarily.

WOW! That's a crazy project to take on, especially since it's the only bathroom!

Grouted

Just have to caulk it and seal the grout, and install the fixtures
Then we're onto the flooring hopefully this weekend.

Yea, we were without a toilet or shower for a few days.
Fortunately, we have some friends that live about 2 blocks away....
Somewhere in the midst of this demo, we decided that we are going to add a 1/2 bath downstairs in the kitchen.
We finished grouting at around 2am this morning. Still need to do a little touching up/clean up, then they'll be ready to seal in a few days, then SHOWER TIME!!

Congratulations and good luck!
Having completely gutted and remodelled a few apartments while living in them I know what you're going through!
It's all worth it in the end though!
