Have checked the average annual wind speeds for my area. We average about 9.9mph per year in my area of the midwest. From my research I have found that wind turbine costs are about 1/4-1/2 of that compared to solar for KWH produced. The turbine Im looking at has a 12ft rotor diameter and would be mounted on about a 100ft monopole. The particular turbine Im looking at is rated for approximatly 200KWH/month @10mph wind speed. I average about 220KWH a month useage.

This has been an on going talk between me my mother and uncle, We all own nice beach front in DR and land behind in the hills and some land about 6km from our places and were trying to see if this is good for us. Being that the land away from the house is right off the sea there is constant wind. What is difficult the places are in DR and not close to say the capital so there would be lots of work before this can all happen and this is were we see if it is worth the investment.

Except you sell the electric back at a much lower rate. It's a special meter you get installed, if you don't do it preemptively the local utility company comes out pronto to change it.
