what a bonehead... [cubans][fake]
well, it was bound to happen...
I was in cancun for a week and found a decent looking shop. Everything looked legit. But I didnt look at the labels close enough.
purchased:
2x Montecristo No. 4 (very fake when put next to my real ones at home)
1x Cohiba pyramides (forgot the exact name) less fake but still noticeable now that I'm home looking at them.
1x Cohiba (forgot what but something small)
1x Cohiba BHK 52... (F*** My Life! - $50)
The Behike label is close, but it's still a fabrication by a somewhat skilled counterfeiter.
*sigh*
I'll get pics later so others can see the crafty work.
LOL where does amex stand on the issue?

the thing you HAVE to look for when buying cubans, is look for the habanos authorized dealer(i think thats what its called in the islands)

When traveling abroad, your guaranteed source for genuine habanos is a La Casa del Habano. They are Habanos SA retailers. Expensive? Yeah. But guaranteed authenticity is worth it.

Sucks man.. Except I bought two boxes of 25 lmfao. Disgusting. For Cohiba's I know they have an Serial number scanner to know if your box is authenticity.

My best friend is Cuban, he gets shipments 2 times a year by going to Cuba and picking it up there himself. Amen to dual citizenship.
Give me a place to stand on, and I will move the Earth.

My father in law just came back from the islands with a box of monte-cristos and a box of cohibas.
He himself doesnt smoke cigars, wont even touch the damn things.
I opened the boxes to find the montes were full of beetle holes and the cohibas are clearly fake.
I'm hoping i can still save the montes.
Sucks to have the fake cohibas, but it is what it is.

Cubans are highly overrated. There are so many "legal" brands that are better. They are less expensive too. I would much rather an Alec Bradley, Arturo Opus or a Rocky Patel over a Cohiba or Romeo y Juliet.

I highly doubt everyone would agree with you. That's a VERY broad statement to make. Taste is subjective. I prefer Cuban cigars. You prefer non-Cuban cigars. They taste nothing alike, and as far as I'm concerned, can't even be judged against each other and have a fair comparison.
I would much rather smoke an 05 PLPC, 04 Cohiba Siglo VI, 02 La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or #3, or 04 Hoyo de Monterrey than any NC cigar. Well, maybe a Viaje Skull and Bones "?" release. Those are awesome after a year's time.
My point is: Smoke what you like, and like what you smoke. I just like to smoke good cigars. I don't care where they come from.
