Worst Experience ever?
So last year, I purchased a box of one of my favorite cigars,Punch Punch, and as I opened it, I noticed a bunch of little black things moving around the box..
Upon closer inspection, turned out half the cigars had holes in it, and the insects most likely laid eggs in the sticks.
Here is what it looked like

I put the other half in the freezer so that any potential eggs would be killed...
Any one experience this?Last edited by RoyalSchmuck; 05-12-2011 at 02:00 AM.

Beetles. It sucks but it does happen. I lost some very valuable sticks a few years ago. Lots of habano and some original opus x.

the way you guys speak, it seems as though you put them in a freezer to kill off the eggs/larve and all is well? I havent had this happen, but if I do, I would like to know how to treat it. Is all a complete loss or is it manageable if caught in time?
also, is it safe to consume if managed correctly? I cant imagine smoking beetles is a good thing.

it is a lot more common then you would think.
I know a few people who always freeze there cigars before tossing them in the humidor.
I always store anything i buy for a week in one humidor, then move them to my main one once i know they are okJEEP: The dirtiest of the four-letter words

It really sucks when that happens. Throw them away!
