    Default Inexpensive Cigars

I noticed something today while enjoying a Padron, but curious if I'm the only one who has experienced this.

When enjoying my lesser expensive sticks, I'll have an aftertaste well after. Sometimes it'll be the next morning and I'll have a serious case of what I call A.M. stoggie breath. Mouthwash helps but only for a short time. After a meal or two my palet returns to normal and I dont taste it anymore. Maybe I'm smoking it too fast but I doubt it. I intentionally slow down just to see.

So today I grabbed a Padron and relaxed with a Coke. Three hours later, no aftertaste at all and I've only had a glass of water since.

Any idea why this is? Do lesser expensive sticks, sub $5, typically leave the aftertaste or is this more about the quality of cigar you are enjoying?

I would call these cigars "cheap" as there are great cigars that are "inexpensive". It's a matter of quality not price.

The bad and bitter after taste left in the mouth and throat comes from the high amount of nicotine still present in the tobacco leaves. Cheap cigars use leaves from poor soil and are not aged enough (or at all) to let the nicotine out. The longer the leaves are aged, the less nicotine they have and the more they exhibit their nature (the known tones of leather, sweetness, earth and pepper).

Although some may suggest that it's due to smoking the cigar too fast or that it is too dry or wet, I don't believe in that.

Eat an orange, or drink orange juice. The citric acid will get rid of the taste. I usually drink a couple glasses after I'm done smoking and I don't have any probs!

You are just like a cigar encyclopedia!

Great info though. There are a few cheaper sticks though that do not leave that taste.

I will say, I had a few ligas, and had no taste, then had a cao, and had some.
