    Question Setting up your Humidor?

Hey so I ordered my first Humidor yesterday should get it this week... it's a 75-100 stick, just wondering if I DO want to wipe it down with a damp rag and do what she demonstrates in this video...(makes since in my mind) yes no? thanx

That's a good start but you may want to put a bowl of distilled water in the bottom for a few days to really season the humidor.

You do need to wipe all the humidor's interior and its trays with distilled water. Otherwise, you won't not reach a proper RH or would take forever.

Also, one step that's very often omitted is the paper test to check the seal of the humidor. It will tell you whether you RH will stay in or just dissipate.

Lift the lid of the humidor. Insert a sheet of paper. Drop the lid shut. Pull paper.

If you are able to pull the humidor with the paper, you have a good seal. If the paper slides right through, seal is bad.

Make sure that the damp towel is ever so slightly damp. I've had premium humidors warp because the towel was too damp. Here's my method:

I wipe it down with a microfiber towel that is ever so slightly damp (like a fly spit on it). Then I put Boveda/ Humidipaks in it for 10 or so days. Always works perfectly and the cedar never warps or gets stained by the water!

Also, I would use beads for humidity. I'm currently using Heartfelt Industry but you can also get "the puck" which is what I used last summer (but my collection grew). Welcome to the club! You'll be buying humidors every year now..... haha
