Default Just got a new toy :D

I just got this new toy. Walked into a liqueur store while in Big Bear that barely had any cigars in it. I asked how much the owner wanted for it. He said 250, so I bought it. It's in pretty good condition. The humidifying sponges were pretty bad though. They were kind of rotten and smell like wet socks. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to clean it or season it, or anything really. I have never worked with a humidor this size.

You are welcome for carrying it up the stairs for you. Should have taken a better picture of it for you while I was at it!

You'll want to wipe the enitre unit down with cap of bleach mixed with about a quart of warm water. This will clean and kill anything that may be growing in there. Then leave the door open for a few days so it can air out. As for humidification you'll want a powered unit that has a fan to circulate the moist air. A unit like a Humi-care will be fine. See the attached link for an idea of what's out there. Be sure to get one that can handle the capacity or you'll end up having to refill it all the time.

    Have fun filling it up.
