Default My 1st experience with Padron ...

Woke up this morning wanting to smoke a good cigar; weird I know. Head out of hotel. Walked to nearest coffee shop for my usual espresso. Sipped. Pass in front of Cigar Masters on Boylston in Boston. Walk in. Great ambience. Typical cozy cigar lounge decor, smell and feel (the kind of feel where you don't care what happens out there when you get in).

First thing that pops in my mind is "you're in the US hence PADRON!". Ask the owner (Brandon) to guide me a bit with the different Padron they have. He suggest the 1964 or 1926. Torpedo appeals to me. No brainer: looked great, felt great. Picked up, cut and light up. It had the maduro wrapper (not sure if it comes otherwise).

Great thick smoke. Very hearty. Full flavored cigar. Scents of cocoa, nuts, soil flavors.

Perfect draw. Never had to re-light. Loved it.

A man walks with with his wife. He seems a bit lost. He also doesn't know non-Cubans. Walks in and out of humidor. He picks a maduro 1926 no9. Ten minutes later, asks me questions about my laptop (he wants to buy one for his wife). Happens that he's in the trade of crude oil business and lived in Montreal for years. Tons of common points and interest. Talk goes on and on. He Greek, I am Armenian. Now talking about our ancestors ... oh boy.

Time for a 2nd cigar. Go back in humidor. They had the 80 years but I decide to get another 1964 torpedo.

Same great cigar but draw was ok the first half and became a bit hard for the 2nd half. (You need to keep the Padron hammer strong Jeff ... I kid )

    Great cigars Padron family!

Quick shot of the bands upon my return to the room.

I'll buzz you when I am back in MTL for a get together with Stephan ... I'll initiate you to cigars but I warn you: you will be hooked like a fish.

Padron is #1 and I have been saying that for years.

Love how there was no uncomfortable after taste in the mouth/throat. I could smoke 3 Padron a day ... Ordering boxes for sure.

1964s are nice, but I prefer the 1926. Especially the 40th Anniversary. All bets are off though if you are talking about the 1964 45th Anniversary Family Reserve...#1 in my book.

Hovy, was the second Torpedo from the same box? Also, they do come in both natural and maduro wrappers.
