    Default traveling with cigars.... advice?

I'm going to Mexico tomorrow morning. It's my first time traveling with cigars. I'd like to bring some padrons down with me but i'll leave the cubans at home on the chance i find some real ones down there that were stored well.

sticks are traveling in a 10 stick Xicar travel humi. It'll look like a bomb on x-ray, i realize theres no way around that ( ) so they'll be opened which is fine. I'm leaving a note on the box to please shut as soon as possible and that they are all Nicaraguan tobacco (shouldnt matter, and I expect to have an empty humi on the way back).

the cutter is in my toiletries bag. Not bringing a lighter.

    Anything I'm forgetting/overlooking?

I usually carry-on my Xikar box, just so they don't go through my luggage when I am not there to watch. Good job leaving the lighters at home and putting the cutter in the toiletries!

When I left for the Dominican from Reagan National in DC I carried on my Xikar Travel box with my lighter in pocket and cutter. They did not say one word about the cutter or the lighter when I had them scanned with the metal detector. Pretty Scary!

topic I've yet to think about. This'll be interesting to see. I traveled back from Jamaica with a couple boxes of caymans and didn't have any trouble with them in my checked bags.

i ended up not checking in my cigars. I brought them in my carry on. You'd think at SOME point of my travels the pelican case in my carry on with a bunch of "sticks" would prompt at least one question as to what they were... nope. To mexico thru TSA security and back to the US through Customs i didnt get asked about anything ONCE. wtf?

I am going to hawaii next week. I want to check a box of montecristo cabinet select. I have a portable humidor triangle in the box. Can I put them in my checked luggage without getting hassled? Also, should I leave the lighter, or can I check that too with the cutter?

I'd carry them before I'd check them.

check lighter and cutter, carry cigs. That way at least you'll be there to tell them to close the damn humidor after poking around and not letting it sit while they have lunch or whatever.
