Cigar question.
Lets say your smoking a nice cigar and enjoying the day and from some reason you have to drop what your doing and leave somewhere. Can you just cut the cigar in the middle, store it, and continue smoking when you come back? or does the cigar go to waste.
Im sure my buddy AMGFAN can answer this.

It's pretty much a loss. The cigar dries while you're smoking it and when you go to relight it, it will have a harsh and nasty flavor. It might work with a longer cigar like a Churchill but I wouldn't recommend it. Just my $.02

Is a cigar a loss if you take a long cigar and cut it in half and smoke it one half at a time?

I'd only put it down for 20-30 minutes tops... then its dead!
In terms of cutting it in half, its not the best option, but I have done that a few times. But its better to cut in half in advance than smoke half and run.

If you cut the cigar in half, beware that there is a good chance the wrapper will come unrolled. The cap of the cigar helps to keep the wrapper in place, and when you cut it in half, there is no cap to keep that first 1/2 rolled.
As for the original question, I tried re-lighting a Padron 2000 maduro a while back after it sat outside for around 3 hours. When I re-lit it, it was bitter and generally disgusting despite purging and cutting the lit portion off before hand. The short answer- generally it isn't worth it.

I'd have to agree with the guys above...the longest I'd let it sit is 30-35 minutes.

In my opinion it is like re lighting an ashtray the cigar is filled with the smoke which will be stale, the cigar will dry out (like previously stated) and it will just be plain used up, for lack of a better term. If there was a way to preserve an already smoked cigar that my friend would be a million dollar idea.

Ill only re-light if I have to put it out for a few minutes, like if I have to run into a store. Like others said, any longer than 20-30 minutes and its worthless.

Something you want to do only when extremely drunk.
