Highway Airplane tickets...Is there any defense?
I've been busted twice now on the highway with my Valentine 1.
Seems they dont pickup overhead aircraft measuring speed. 2 miles down the road later I am getting pulled over and ticketed. Is there any defense against this?? Stealth Paint? lol2006 Lotus Exige "277 Whp-177 Tq" 2009 BMW X5 4.8, 2007 Nissan Frontier SE

they clock you from a plane using mile markers on the road and a stopwatch, not exactly high tech and no way to fight it. Your best bet is to ask for a fine reduction and traffic school.
edit: planes don't use radar, that is why your V1 never alarmed.Andy -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Lexus ISF

From what I hear, VASCAR (Visual Average Speed Computer And Recorder) tickets are relatively easy to beat. The guy who pull you over and tickets you isn't the one who verified your speed, the guy in the plane has to show up in court if you fight it, No matter how VASCAR is used, whether in stationary mode or mobile mode, it is always prone to human error. In the State of Pennsylvania, for example, a speeding ticket cannot be issued using a VASCAR unit unless the motorist is exceeding the speed limit by more then 10 mph (where the speed limit is below 55 mph). Such a requirement is significant because it demonstrates that even the State recognizes that VASCAR is markedly less accurate then other speed measurement devices (e.g. RADAR, LIDAR).

read this somwhere but dont know how true it can be , maybe if you were to get a lawyer he could help you out even more , if its not your 1st offense then you might have harder time ..

it will all depend on state law.
in CA, the mile markers have to be clearly marked, which they aren't in many cases, so there could be ways out for some portions of the highway. and, as forfend says, many states give officers the authority to 'guestimate' speed (which is total nonsense IMO) & issue tickets.

I have never been busted by a plane but the times I have gotten a ticket the officer is usually hiding over a hill and as soon as you go over it, boom they turn it on and hit you.
