Default McIntosh head unit Ferrari 430

I want to trade out the stock unit on my 430spider. I have not been into car audio for a number of years now. A few years ago mcintosh was the top brand. Is that still true. I am looking for a clean unit that fits the interior well. I would also like navigation but don't like these neon/ video gamey head units. Is there one brand/ model that goes well with 430s. Any recs for speaker/ amps to keep it looking as stock as possible would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

if you want navi, you would need a flip out screen with a single din opening so i would go with a pioneer AVIC N series or newer alpine or eclipse but if you had a double din i would go with the Pioneer AVIC D series all day long...

Macintosh is bought by the guy that would rather just buy the most expensive thing because its the most expensive, not because its the best quality

I think something like this would look perfect

Pioneer DEX-P99RS Stage 4 Head Unit and Reference System

That unit looks sick. From you and ravens. I am picking up that pioneer is the top contender now. Is the stage 4 there elite series as with other audio gear?

Ravens. Its a single din so I will need a flip out. Maybe they make a flip out in the stage 4 series.

I haven't seen any single din nav units that fit the bill for aesthetics. If I see something, I'll post it up.

I myself prefer my nav unit up higher in the sight line that what the F430 would offer

Pioneer and Alpine are your best bet.

Both companies only make 1 flip out. Personally, I think the Pioneer has a cleaner and more appealing look when both open and closed.

This is Pioneers only single din flip-out.

Can someone who knows about the details tell me the pros and cons between the macintosh and pioneer d series. Most of my music will be played from an iPhone/ iPod. I am leaning towards the pioneer and thinking of getting their amp and speakers. I'd really appreciate any audiophiles input as they are around the same price. Thanks.

Well McIntosh doesn't have a flip out. So if you want navi, stick to the Pioneer. Higher end Pioneer speakers/amps are perfectly fine as well. You will be able to control everything directly from the touch screen once you plug your ipod/iphone in. Just run the wire into the glove box or center console so it is hidden and gives it a clean look.
