    Default XM/Sirius renewal promos?

Anyone aware of any? I've been a subscriber for 7 years, and the yearly renewal is almost $160. I don't expect to have my car for 3 more years, so I don't want to pre-pay for the 3 year subscription...and it seems more cost-effective now to get an iPod hookup in the car, and use FREE Pandora.

I called and threatened to cancel, but they were quite indifferent.

call them, and tell them you want to cancel.

they will either make you the offer right there, or will email/mail/call you with an offer.

I'll try again. Twice today with no luck, but I haven't made it to the cancellation dept yet, b/c I'm not ready to let it go, but I don't want them to call my bluff and leave me listening to regular radio (OH THE HUMANITY!!) or cd's.

Just cancel it, then call back the next day if you must to reactivate.

Though I will agree. I will pay for radio as long as its available

I'm about to sign up for XM. I'm so tired of the commercials during my commute to and from work.

But say I get rid of the car in a year or so (and this will apply to the OP too), is the "membership" transferrable to my new vehicle?

I believe it's transferrable. You just call them with the new radio ID and they will deactivate the old and activate the new.

I ordered a bluetooth FM modulator (highest rated one on Amazon) for my iPhone, so I'll try that. It's a third of the price of a year of XM and a fourth of the cost of a quality installed iPod connector. We'll see. I really love XM, but I don't feel it's worth $160/yr right now.

    SUCCESS STORY!!!

I called to cancel today, and after waiting on hold for 20 min, I got a rep, told him I wanted to cancel. He asked why, I said "too expensive" and he offered me the $77/yr that I tried to get with 3 phone calls last week.

My new yearly rate is $85.32 due to royalty fees, but I'm good with that. They are refunding me $72.51 for the already billed 1 year amount.

    I AM WINNING!!

    Thanks for the suggestions, guys!
