Question about amplifier tuning
I just picked up a 400w Profile 2 channel amp and Im going to have it power 2 8" 300 Watts Max / 150 Watts Rms 4ohm DVC subwoofers. I am new to the car audio game, so I have a few questions about tuning the amp.
My main question is about the Bass Boost and Level settings. Right now I have the low pass filter on and crossover to 80hz. How should I adjust the bass boost and level settings to get the best bass? Im looking for crisp bass, not muddy or pounding. I should probably mention that Im using my stock head unit, so I dont have separate control over the subwoofers, and also the box is a ported box. Whats the best way to tune it in? Im thinking to have the radio's bass knob at 1/2 way, then set the amp such that I can turn the bass way down by turning the head unit knob all the way down, and turn it way up to get pounding bass. Whats the best method for tuning in the bass boost and level input knobs so I get what I want with no distortion?
Also given the setup of amp and subs and wiring diagram I plan to use below, I want to set it up so that I dont blow the subwoofers (or amp).
Also, is this the best way to wire them?

Thanks for the help !Last edited by Julian@Rezmoto; 01-06-2011 at 03:57 PM.
