AE Edition G500 Convertible Designo
Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood CA. customizes a rare Mercedes G500 Designo Edition
If you thought that a G500 was a rare Mercedes have you ever seen a G500 convertible? Especially a Designo Edition? While we have done many G500’s and a few convertibles working with a Designo Edition was our first. What makes this G different is the beautiful paint and interior exclusive to Designo Edition trucks. While the exterior paint may look black to you when the sun shines on it you see the color change to a dark brown/black metallic. The Cognac color interior leather is so supple and truly compliments the paint.
Here is a list of what we did to customizes this already beautiful truck.
Audio Upgrades:
The factory radio was replaced with a Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT unit. This 7″ wide screen unit offers AM/FM/XM/CD/DVD/iPod/iPod video/Navigation/ Bluetooth all via touch screen or voice control. This unit was carefully molded into the dash to fit perfectly. This is rated as one of the best radios in the mobile electronics industry. We also added a back up camera that activates automatically when the G is put into reverse. The front and rear speakers were replaced with Focal 165 KRXS component shallow 6.5″ and tweeters speakers. These speakers are powered by an Alpine PDX4.150 amplifier totalling over 600 watts of clean power. In the rear cargo area we installed a Kenwood eXcelon KFC-XW1000F shallow 10″ subwoofer made with carbon fiber in a custom enclosure. We wrapped the enclosure in matching interior leather. The subwoofer is powered by a hidden Alpine PDX1.600 amplifier totalling over 600 watts of power. Behind the scenes is a Rockford Fosgate 360.2 EQ Processor. This device gives you 153 bands of equalization and when connected via Bluetooth to a lap top you have full control to tune each speaker in the system.
Wheel & tires:
We replaced the stock wheels with a set of custom body color painted 22″ Gianelle Santorini wheels by Giovanna. The tires are Yokohama Parada series. These wheels and tires truly give this SUV a customized appearance.

The side view of a cabrio G doesn't look that great. But amazing truck and upgrades!
