Angry Please help. Having trouble connecting iPod/iPhone to Kenwood DNX-7100

    Hi,

I am experiencing some issues with my ipod/iphone connectivity on my Kenwood DNX7100. When I plug my iPhone into the data cable it charges my iPhone but I am unable to access any music or videos off of it thru the head-unit. As for as I know I have the latest software update on the unit and have the proper cable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unit reads "disconnected" at all times. Also, I am using a KCA IP301 cable.

^^long story short is that I have never had this particular head unit hooked up with the iPod cable. I owned the exact same unit prior to it being stolen and it worked fine with my 2g iPhone running 1.1.4 (I think that's right).

My replacement unit will not work and never has worked that old iPhone nor with my new iPhone 4 running 4.0.

From my experience a couple of days ago,the Kenwood 7100 uses the KCA-IP300v
KCA-IP301 is for Newer Units, but they do look very alike...

Kenwood will have a software update soon for Iphone 3g and 3gs running ver 4.0 software they are aware of the problem. The update will be via thumb drive thru USB. Keep your eye out on Kenwoodusa.com/support. They will post it there.

the only way to get my iphone 4 to connect to my kenwood unit is to open "ipod" on the phone, hit the home button, double tap to open multitask list, press and hold "ipod", close it, then plug the cable in. Kinda sucks, but works every time that way.
