Default INFINITI G37x Sedan - Dilemma

I recently purchased a lightly used 2009 G37x w/o the premium pkg (NAV/Bluetooth/USB etc.) for a GREAT deal so I didn't mind not having those. That being said, I didn't think that upgrading the audio would be that big of a task and failed to realize that the head unit displays just about every status I'd need so replacing it is really not an option (or is it?).

I'm a member of a G37 forum and have seen work-arounds (CarPC's/IPOD & IPAD etc.) but I wanted to get some feedback from my first family.

I'm trying to avoid dashmounting a GPS system and was looking to possibly mount a multimedia touchscreen unit (?) in the overhead where the sunglass holder is (flip down) and flip between the unit's display and factory one.

    Thoughts? Options? Thanks fam!

Thanks for the link! I've seen that done before but the guy put it on a swivel as well. Definitely not going to go this route though unless I can find an equivalent that's not as big as the IPAD.
