Default Blaupunkt Acapulco MP54 vs. JVC KD-S100

    Hey everyone,

I have 2 head-units and I am trying to decide which one to install in my BMW.

The JVC is the newer model but the silver clashes with the black interior. The blue display colour of the head-unit also doesn't match the BMW red display.

Specs: JVC KD-S100 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Blaupunkt unit is an older model but the black matches the interior and the display colour can be matched to the BMW red.

Specs: Blaupunkt Acapulco MP54 CD player with MP3 playback at Crutchfield.com

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks...

blaupunkt is garbage do you have these radios already or your thinking of putting them in? i would recommend kenwood or sony if your looking for all black. they are both very budget friendly too.

    Thank you for the reply.

I already have both these head-units...just trying to decide which one to install. I know they aren't "high-end" stuff but the rest of the system is going to remain stock and they do say that your system is only as good as the worse component.

Of your 2 choices, fit the JVC.. The silver surround and top and lower display could be colour changed to black but for the cost of doing that its probably not worth it.. Call into your local Car Audio dealer and see if they have a spare black trim surround!!! its something that most of us have laying around and if not its a cheap part to order from spares. You could also ask if they would take in the 2 units you have as a part exchange for a New unit that better suits your needs.

i would ditch both. If your stock radio isn't broken you better of just adding an I-pod kit. It may even make the audio sound worse. If you looking for a good radio that will color match I would go with a Kenwood Excelon or for a good cheep radio Alpine CDA-105 that illuminate in red. Otherwise Craiglist what you have and keep your stock. Also If you have steer wheels controls I know the Blau not compatible. and the JVC would make a sweet Fishing weight. I just saying

    Thanks for the feedback.

I tested the JVC and it is a major improvement over the stock radio so the stock radio is not an option.

Plus, the stock radio looks so ancient with the cassette player.
