For sure the following are only my personals favs. There are some very nice places we all know. I would recommend reserving to any of those places.
As for the restaurant Au Pied de Cochon, you will be able to taste a Foie Gras Poutine or any of their other good meal. Here is a link to their menu: Au Pied de Cochon you will want to reserve if you want to go there.
For one of the best Filet Mignon you can go to Home. It is on of the best in Montreal. I agree that Queue de Cheval is also one of the best Montreal Restaurants - La Queue de Cheval - Montral, Canada.
If you want to try something very good and drive to the South Shore, go to see my friend at Restaurant italien rive sud de Montral | Primi Piatti, it is one of the best restaurant and it is in St=Lambert. Only minures from Montreal and very convenient if you plan to go to the Casino after. It gets very good critics, the type of place I prefer. L'Express is also very good but I usually go there for lunch not Dinner.
If you really do not mind about the price this place is great Ristorante Bice.
Of course if you are in need of a good smoke meat you can always go to Schwartz, whici is the good old standard.
As far as clubs are concerned, I am to old for this and out of this circuit for too long to make any recommendation.
Enjoy your stay and have fun while in MTL.Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.

Thanks a lot! They all seem interesting.
Funny how I'll come to Montreal with totally different point of view this time, unlike two years ago...
...woke up walking in the middle of the street, snow up to knees, not feeling my toes. belt gone. jeans ripped. somehow i ended up 10 minutes away from the club and 10 minute drive from hyatt where we were staying, lol.

I was hoping for no snow so I could take my Vette but looks like it will snow on Friday... bummer!
Is there anything going on this weekend in Montreal? Shows etc?

yeah try tuango.com that's one of the biggest in Quebec I think. If you think of coming to Quebec City go see that site for restaurant information: Restaurants in Quebec city - Restaurants Directory in Quebec | tonresto

Just came back from Montreal yesterday. Few things to say:
- it was freaking cold! Boston seems hot compared to it.
- a lot of nice cars even with low temperatures and all the cars rocking winter tires. Saw a few modded 335i's, a red e92 m3, black SL63 and SL65 and many more I can't remember now.
- que cheval was expensive. upon arrival i didn't realize all they had were steaks so luckily I didn't get to spend money there. the waiter even though so professional, sounded like a dick. my gf who used to be a waitress, said she bets everybody working there hates that guy
- ate at 3 brasseurs on st catherine (l.a. wrap is so delicious, ambre beer is amazing) and dundees on crescent. great places.
- went to see notre dame on saturday but they had a wedding so didn't get to see it inside.
- drove around gilles villeneuve, in a corolla
i really wish i brought my corvette. even though there were limits, there was not a single car there... has anyone received a ticket for driving faster there? just curious.
- stopped by biosphere, very interesting place.
- went to olympic park, saw the tower and swimming pool. wanted to see the biodome but didn't have time for it.

oh and if anyone is planning on going to montreal, don't stay at intercontinental. no free wifi, which for a hotel like that should be a norm, pool is a joke, service was just fine. waited for 30 minutes in the lobby for our car, 20 minutes after calling the lobby to let them know we are coming down...
on a contrary, i stayed at hyatt two years ago and everything was top notch, including the location which was right off st catherine.
we are planning on going back to montreal, when it gets warm, maybe march or april.
next in plans: toronto or quebec city.

If you want to go to Quebec you definitely have to wait until summer to really enjoy it.

not true
quebec is great in winter if you're not afraid of the cold
and we have the best strippers to warm you up if you're cold
