Thanks guys. I have a nice little list going.
With a section based all around business and a couple threads here and there for motivation I'm surprised this isn't already here.

I am an avid reader and credit it to assisting me in my climb to the top. I recommend these books in this order to everyone interested in business/motivation/self help.
1. The Magic of Thinking Big - By David J. Schwartz, this book will prepare your mind for the next two books. It is a great soft introduction to thought process, psychology, determination & self help.
2. Think and Grow Rich - By Napoleon Hill, this book literally changed my life in the way i think. Ultimately that is what sets successful people apart from everyone else.
3. Acres of Diamonds - By Earl Nightingale, this book talks a lot about attitude, appreciation & lots of great stories and examples. Earl will tie together everything nicely from the previous two books i recommended.
----
Read these 3 books in this order and i bet you it will give you enough motivation, guidance and understanding to last you a lifetime. I read all 3 a few times a year and can not get enough of them. Most people that take my recommendation and read these books always become a bit more enlightened, whether it is for business purposes or just to become a better person you can not go wrong either way.
Good luck man, i commend you for actually seeking the knowledge that trait alone will get you far.

+1 awesome book. "The Art of War" is always good as well.
not business related, but i tend to read theoretical physics books on occasion. Stephen Hawkings "A Brief History of Time" and "The Universe in a Nutshell" and Brian Greene's "The Elegant Universe", "The Fabric of the Cosmos" and "The Hidden Reality"... I think they're fantastic reads and help you think outside the box and give you a better "big picture" perspective...My mechanic told me "I couldn't fix your brakes... so I made your horn louder."

I hate reading books. I read so much for work, articles and forums on the internet, etc. that it's hard to want to read an actual book, cover to cover. A few that I found actually worth the effort:
Tim Ferris "4 Hour Work Week"
I also found very interesting. Learning to ignore most stuff (the extension of the Pareto principle) is difficult but rewarding.
Stephen Pollan "Live Rich" and "Fire Your Boss"
These are basically the predecessor of Tim Ferris. They focus on making and saving money in practical, concrete, actionable ways, as well as re-evaluating work, whether you're the boss or the employee. Remember, even CEOs have bosses (boards and shareholders), as do small business owners (their employees become their bosses because they depend on them for paychecks).
Robert Kiyosaki "Rich Dad, Poor Dad"
The guy has made more money talking about how to get rich than by anything else, but his advice is generally correct and inspirational (although difficult to put into practice). His analysis of the true rich, i.e. the folks who sit back and let others make them money, versus employees and small business owners, is pretty accurate.

The Millionare Fastlane by far the best book on practical wealth creation I've ever read.....
Barbarians At The Gate: The Fall of RJR Nabisco Leveraged buy outs baby, even have the movie starring James Garner
FIASCO: Blood In the Water on Wall Street [Paperback]
Just one of my personal faves
The Wolf Of WallStreet
Jordan Belforts rise and fall from making $50 mill a year to coke induced crazy shit to going back to square one......diCaprio is rumored to play him in a movie
Think And Grow Rich a timeless classic
Tim Ferris and Robert Kiyasaki are hacks at best , in my opinions they are great marketers and little else but each to his own

How to Win at the Sport of Business: If I Can Do It, You Can Do It - Mark Cuban
Short book, but worth the read IMO. It contains a lot of his blog posts, and it has some good inspirational quotes and techniques.
Also, The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur is great. I just started reading Goal Setting: 13 Secrets of World Class Achievers and liking it as well.
EDIT - Just to add to LTL, The Millionaire Fastlane is Epic.Last edited by Gamble; 02-12-2012 at 07:08 PM.
