Thanks for stepping up JBrown, you beat me to much of what I was going to add. To expand, your landing page HAS to match your user's intent BEFORE they click on your link. Landing pages are to this day, one of the most effective methods of lead capture/lead generation on the web. I've used landing pages at 2 companies over the last 3 years and through multiple a/b and multivariate tests, can allow you to resonate with the needs of your audience given the fact that landing pages offer the flexibility required to leverage inbound data and adjust accordingly. In this space, data is your best friend. There are a number of landing page best practices. To learn more about these, check out SiteTuners | Website Conversion Rate Optimization ? I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to do with your landing page but the other l4pers have already covered it. What I wanna know is whether you are gonna drive traffic to your landing page via organic free methods or paid traffic ?

Here is a sweet example of a solid landing page in the internet marketing niche

I'm going to disagree with the above example. From what I can see, it's got far too much text and the animation is too distracting. The use of stock images, etc. make it look like sales spam. In addition, there are 2 different calls to action on the page. Here's an example I prefer that I'm currently using:

    Toad for Oracle 11
