Intro:
When I became an L4P Sponsor, I mentioned that I was going to provide true “knowledge and experiences to positively benefit all L4P members, friends and families.” So let this thread be the first of many…
Most friends and family have a pretty good understanding of what my company, CPB, offers. But what they don’t fully understand is how I’ve reached out and generated the client-base that it has today. Believe it or not, ~80% of my clients were either through direct Referrals or, what’s called, “Offline Marketing;” which is what this thread will be focusing on.
The technique that I am about to discuss can be used within ANY industry; however I still want fellow L4P members to list successful techniques that they've used in the past! Just reply back!
Why Offline Marketing?
When was the last time you received something “personal” from a USPS/FedEx/UPS employee? Was it during a Holiday? New Years? Your Birthday? From a special loved one? Yes! I’m sure you’ve received plenty of those! But what about a “personal” message from a Business? I know I haven’t! All I’ve ever received looked like credit card offerings and sweepstakes-type material – what I like to call “MailBox Spam.” Kind of like – Email spam?
I’m sure you’re getting a good idea as to what I am getting at. The sending of business proposals via Email just isn’t cutting it these days. So try something different! Send your business information or offers to TARGETED-prospective clients in a way that GRABS THEIR ATTENTION! Ultimately, you want to grab their attention is such a way that it provokes action and curiosity on their part.
Where to Find Prospects?
B2B – I’ve found that Google Places (Google Places) offers the best way to find prospective clients. You can use yellowpages.com or other services but Google Places tends to offer the best info since most are “owner verified.” You can then use Manta: Company Profiles & Company Information on Manta (free) to confirm the owners name.
B2C/Retail – This is obviously trickier since you would need to have demographic information and the individual’s mailing list. This can still be accomplished by creating various contests, coupon-mailing lists, free products, etc. If you can offer something good, you’ll get their address!CEO of CostPerBoost - www.costperboost.com

1-Example of how I have used Offline Marketing:
I’ve been using this type of campaign for the past 4 years. Some say that it’s great while others think it’s “childish.” To each their own… I won’t discuss profits from my end but roughly ~20 out of 50 prospects tend to call back and accept my proposal = huge success.
This particular method takes time to implement due to all the work involved BUT the payoff is, almost always, exponential! If time is an issue, simply hire a High School or College student to do the work for you. You may even decide to hire them full time, depending on the cost-per-acquisition (CPA) and success of your offline marketing campaign.
Supplies: Can be found at your local Staples!
Southworth® Fine Linen Paper - White
Staples® Bright White Multipurpose Paper
Staples® #10, QuickStrip™ Security-Tint Envelopes
Printer Ink
Post-it Notes
Highlighters
Red Pens
Lots of Dice! (Yes, DICE) Purchased these by the pound via Amazon
Procedure:
You want to get STRAIGHT to the point while making everything as personal as possible. Remember, it’s about receiving a “personal” gift/envelope.
Here is what you need to do:
- Type a professional proposal
- Give proof of why they should accept your proposal. Mine dealt with an attachment of “Zero Reviews” within a Google Listing.
- Include any certification or reason why you’re the one to do it.
- Include a Customer Referral Program. If they don't accept your proposal, they can still recommend you!
- Does your company have a website? Include a screenshot! Get an extra fan while you're at it!
IMPORTANT: You must hand sign #1 & #4. This proves that you’re not just a machine…
Afterward, take all pages (in my case 5) and fold them professionally so they fit into the envelopes. Open it back up again and place 2 Dice or something with “weight” within the folds. LUMPY/HEAVY mail differentiates you from the other letters they’ll be curious as to whats inside! Plus it adds to the personal feel. Would you throw something out that is personalized and feels “important?” Didn’t think so!
Shipping:
Shipping will be the most expensive part but, again, it’s worth it! A bar-code label tends to show importance, so it’s much more likely to be read, rather than thrown out. Do anything to enhance the personalized effect of your envelope. That means using a post-it note for a handwritten address, and using your personal return address – not your business! Again, it’s about getting them to open and read the contents!

I may have missed this, but other than the weight and psychological attractiveness of a heavier letter; what is the meaning behind the dice? Im guessing it means "take a gamble on me" or something of that sort, but for some reason it caught me as random.
It's not enough to succeed.
Others must fail.

Dice:
1. Random totem. Can choose whatever you want.
2. Adds a sense of curiosity... Had clients call me just to ask what the dice were for
3. Adds weight and an odd feel to the envelope
I never include a statement that includes the dice within any of the documents. I would never say - "take a gamble on me" cause that's off-putting. I would say, "Not using my services or going to a competitor of mine would be a huge gamble." That phrase would be strictly used on a phone conversation.CEO of CostPerBoost - www.costperboost.com

I love the dice part... That's amazing! lol
But of course we can change that... like my business is a bath luxury retail store... so a letter with dices inside wouldn't make much sense... I still have to think about something interesting besides the "weight".
Is just a simple approach to make customer feel that is a human being wiriting those letters and not just a machine... people still like to have that feeling and might give you a shot!
Thanks for sharing!.Caio Silva

Not a bad idea, but man you gotta work on your penmanship. I don't know what I would think if I received something with that hand writing.
