TEXT MARKETING?
not sure if its been discussed here . . Has anyone used it for their bussiness ? I have a restaurant and in Urban Detroit Area mailers and local marketing doesnt really cut it for how much it cost . But I was looking into this and wondering how I would go about it or even if it would even be worth it . Like send out mass text offering a couple of differnt coupones something free with purchase or maybe 15-20% off purchase to attract customers . Would it even be somthing for a restaurant type bussiness . I've looked at a couple of sites but dont really get how it goes or how I would go about setting it up . Just curious anyone ever done this .. Looking to spend a couple dollars and try to market my place and get the name out there see if it will bring in more ppl .

I actually have seen my friends pizza shop use it and the results are amazing. They offered a free pizza deal to people that registered for txt updates. The following week, someone that ordered 20 pizzas went back on their order. Normally that would be a huge setback, but a text alert was sent out that noted a lower price and all the pizzas were gone in 2 hours. Its a pretty amazing system if used correctly.
It's not enough to succeed.
Others must fail.

I've never dealt with SMS marketing since I've been spammed before. I've helped a few clients with location-targeted mobile click-to-call ads via a PPC campaign. You can easily target users on mobile phones and desktops/laptops.
Overall, I would suggest a social media campaign. Everyone has a facebook or twitter app on their phone so I would keep everyone updated that way. A professionally run campaign will attract more attention to your business, while encouraging others to share and document their experiences within their own social and business networks = nice little snowball effect.

If customers give you their info then I'd say you're allowed. I've entered my info for a couple companies for special offers and news. However, if I get messages from people who I haven't signed up with, I get livid.

It sounds good, but have the customers sign up first. Unwanted txts on my phone are simply deleted or a company fishing for info.

I remember reading up on bluetooth marketing too. Seems like it could work, although I'm not sure the stats on who leaves bluetooth on.

Bluetooth could be of interest and it seems like it could fit because would need to be a brick and mortar business since it is proximity tactic. If this restaurant is in a very dense area or has a lot of foot traffic run by then would probably work really well!!
^^OP I shot you a PM. I might be able to provide some more clarity/advice.

Went into a quick service restaurant/pub and they have an iphone/itouch with an app to enter a phone number. It allows reoccurring customers to sign in every time they eat there and allows for text message coupons/notices to be sent to customers who want information. Also allows for the company to chart each customers quantity of visits and amount of purchase.
