An AMAZING Entrepreneur Convention
Yesterday I flew from my city (Gold Coast, Australia) Do to Sydney for the day to attend "The Young Entrepreneurs Unconvention".
This has been the best convention I have been to so far! The day was from 9-5 with a 45min lunch beach of networking with over 350+ other 15-30 year old business minded people like myself trying to make it.
So thruout the day we had a whole bunch of amazing guest speakers take to the stage, tell us the stories of how they became so suscessful, how they lost almost everything and some funny stories thrown in.
Guest speakers included;
Peter Davison
Peter wasn't a guest speaker, he was walking around for the day talking to people etc, I have NO idea who he was until he told me he was one of the very first investors in PAYPAL. Peter quit his job in the 90's and moved to Silicon valley where he was introduced to a lot of people, one being Peter Thiel...So Mr Thiel wasn't in the "Tech head" circle at the time but with an amazing idea, Peter Davison welcomed him in...Pay pal was started.
Jack Delosa
Jack Delosa has been named in Australia's top 10 entrepreneurs under 30, having his company in the fastest 50 start ups in Australia, to raising over $5mil for his personal clients and acuiring businesses with his panel of investors.
Andrew Morello
Andrew Morello won the first season of The Apprentice Australia and no woks alongside Mark Bouris. Andrew is the head of business development at Yellow Brick Road and has been heavily involved in their recent IPO. This guy was AMAZING!
Ruslan Kogan
kogan.com.au undercutting the whole market in appliences. Making his own brand and reducing the prices. He started off wanting to make cheaper tv's so he did, went to the banks and got 80k worth of CC's, Cash advanced them at 28%, put an order in to china and he was off! Ruslan has been listed on the BRW young rich list and also listed in the BRW fast 100. He did usteam his talk yesterday so I'll try find it and post it...This guy came out on stage wearing nike airs, jeans around his but and a t-shirt saying "I GOT HATERS EVERYWHERE I GO" pure awesome.
Matt Barrie
BRW Entrepreneur of the year.
Matt Barrie is the CEO and Founder of FREELANCER.COM and with USD$23.5m turnover in 2010........Was listed as the 2011 BRW Entrepreneur of the year. Freelancer has grown to be the world's largest outsourcing platform.
I have typed up a whole bunch of notes from the conference if anyone would like them just shoot me a PM.
What I have learnt today I can not put in a post, It's unreal what a day in a room with positive people can do!
I'll try post up video's of the day if they come thru on emails or youtube! Any questions regarding the speakers let me know!
Thanks,
Jayden
