    Default Starting a non profit

Has anyone here started a non profit? I am thinking about starting one to raise funds for pediatric cancer research in honor of my niece who recently passed away, she was 6 years old.

I along with other family members have raised over $40K through Team in Training and other events and I would like to do something on a permanent basis.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be really appreciated.

    Thanks!

Yes, I am in the process of putting together a non-profit with a focus on medical research. I don't want to share details in this post. So send me a message if you want to talk in private.

I've set up multiple and sit on a few boards.

Here in Canada the difference between a registered Non Profit and getting Charitable Status adds on a significant amount of work, not always needed.

Look around for a Non Profit umbrella group to help guide you.

To the OP, if you are just trying to establish the documentation behind it, let me know as my partner can take care of all this for you. We have some very large organizations and foundations under our belt.

Well, good timing for this to be posted. I'm in the same boat. Might be sending out a few pms.

You can also make a pretty penny through non-profit, and not a lot of people know that. I'm very sorry to hear about your niece, and I also wish you the best of luck with the org.
Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better.

Thanks. I am looking at several ideas at the moment to see what we are going to do. Will be in contact with those that responded.
