Grants for small business?
Has anyone had any luck getting funding through the government for a small business venture?
I've been working the last few months on a chemical for pollution control. My laboratory testing has just come in and confirmed the numbers I was hoping to see. So I am ready to move forward with the product. A friend in the industry told me I needed to source some start-up funds through USDA, Cherokee Nation (I'm native american), SBA and DEQ.
I've found a few things available for Pollution Control grants for existing business's.
Has anyone had any luck following through with these programs or are they just a waste of time?
And as far as I can tell, SBA only provides a guarantee for your lender, which I don't need.
Any advice?

Turns out, 99% of "grants" for business ventures are scams, hoaxes and fraud..
The best options Ive found now are offered through the Cherokee Nation minority business loans and the USDA Rural Development (which most of you probably wouldn't fit into). If I needed that much, it looks like you could secure upwards of half a million dollars from USDA. Not a bad gig if you take the time to look into it all..

There are a few grant writers for my wife's employer. All they do is write in for grants. They mentioned for businesses the best avenue to get approved for grants is for research. Research grants are handed out more easily than others. Get in touch with your state reps that are on committees in your industry. They love bringing home the bacon in exchange for votes.

Got a buddy at the AQMD here in SoCal if it's something for them. They have funding for certain projects that are passed on to businesses. The diesel conversion was a huge deal in California and not many businesses knew that they could get it taken care of by this program.
It's all about who you know......otherwise it's a scam.Don't argue with idiots...they will just bring you down to their level then beat you with experience!
